Perfectly Imperfect - Behind Wabisabi Jewels, International Women’s Day

For as long as I can remember, creating has been the centre of my world. From all kinds of projects, businesses and just creating art in different forms.

For me, art and creating is more than just a hobby or a passion. Creating is my outlet.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve experienced turbulence in my mental health. Channeling my emotion into creation is one of the greatest tools I’ve ever found. I’ve used creation as a way to understand myself, to regulate, to process, to survive.

Wabisabi has been there beside me through all of it.

During my lowest points, Wabisabi has been my why. It has been the reason I got up in the morning. It re-lit my spark — my love for art, for creation, for expression. For the last 5.5 years, Wabisabi has been my rock, my inspiration, my outlet.

Not only is Wabisabi my job — it is me. I don’t know myself without it, and it would not exist without me. I have poured my entire heart into this business. Thousands of hours. Tears. Lost sleep. Risk. Growth. Starting from nothing and building it piece by piece.

Today feels like a special moment to recognise that.

To me International Women’s Day is about honouring the quiet strength it takes to keep going. To back yourself even if no one else fully sees the vision that you have. To build something from nothing. To continue to show up even if you aren’t quite sure.

It’s also a moment to acknowledge the women who came before us - the ones who pushed boundaries and paved the way so women like me can do what we love today.

Wabisabi Jewels is built by one woman - me. But it is carried and worn by so many amazing people who believe in it, believe in me.

To every woman who is creating something in the background, battling things silently, creating beauty from chaos - I see you!! Keep going!!

This brand grows with me, changes as I change. It holds my imperfections, my hurt, my healing, my ambition and my strength.

Wabi-Sabi means imperfectly perfect,

And to me, that feels like womanhood.

Happy International Women’s Day,

From Wabisabi Jewels ⭐️
